With innovative storage solutions that make the most of the tiniest bits of space, this kitchen by The Kitchen Place is full of hidden surprises.
“The client loves cooking and entertaining so the old, classic U-shaped kitchen with hidden servery just didn’t work for her. We opened up the kitchen to the adjoining sitting area with an island bench, which bridges the two spaces really well with good storage on the kitchen side and bookshelves on the front to tie in with the shelving in the sitting area. The wine racks were included to add some interest and break up the straight lines. Originally, there was only shelving on the right of the fireplace, so we designed shelving to match on the left. This provides better balance, while the tall pantry next to it clearly marks the end of the kitchen. It’s not a huge space so good storage solutions were important such as the twin pantry, the corner unit for pots and pans, the lift-up cabinet that hides small appliances, plus the spice and oil racks located either side of the cooktop. Everything is within easy reach and every bit of space is used. The client loves the colour blue and many of her decorative items are blue, so we added some blue accents with the strip of decorative tiles and the glass splashback.”
